The following books are great reading for design enthusiasts.

This is our full-length treatise on affordance based design, building up the theory from its foundations in ecological psychology, discussing multiple practical methods, and presenting several in-depth case studies. A must read for anyone interested in design theory and methodology!
This book contains our chapter on "Understanding the Complexity of Design" as well as many other fascinating articles on understanding and designing complex engineered systems.
Galvao developed the "Function Task Interaction Matrix" (FTIM) which identifies affordances as the intersection of product functions and user tasks. This book develops the FTIM approach.
Norman popularized the term "affordances" and used the concept as a central part of his design methods for designing usable products.
Gibson coined the term "affordances" in his 1979 book which revolutionized perceptual psychology.
